Global Industrial Technology Innovation Forum

The Industry Forum 2019 in Vienna will be organized by the Korean Scientists and Engineers Association in Austria in cooperation with the Vienna Business Agency. The status of Austrian science and technology belongs to the top of the European Union countries. Austria holds the fourth largest number of “hidden champion industries” in the world. Korea is the leading country in ICT and invests big amount of research fund for the research and development. The aim of the Industry Forum is to enhance the cooperation between Korea and Europe in the area of industrial technologies to promote many mutually beneficial opportunities of industrial technology collaboration in the future. The Industry Forum 2019 will be a platform to bring the related industries and research institutes together to know each other and to foster the future collaboration. The topics of the forum are selected based on the possible common interests of Korea and Europe, especially Austria, such as: - Future Mobility - Life Science - Smart Factory - Information & Communication Technology

Future Mobility

Within 400 Km from Vienna yearly more than four million cars are producing. Austrian automotive companies offer engineering service in body construction, electrics and electronics, engines and other services. The Korean car producers have a close cooperation with Austrian automotive industry for examples in engines and four-wheel drives. But the automotive industry has been facing challenges in the area of energy and environment, change of customer behavior, etc. Such challenges are leading automotive industry to develop efficient powertrain, light weight material, eco efficient design, smart production etc. The close cooperation between two countries is required more than ever before.

Smart Factory

With the Information Technology the production as well as manufacturing technology has been developing continuously. Within the Industry 4.0 the smart and intelligent production systems belong to important future trends in research and development. As an example, for the research of the smart factory TU Wien established a pilot factory to develop and test the new technology and concept of the Industry 4.0 and smart factory. In 2017 Korean government announce a plan to establish around 30,000 smart factories by 2025. There are lot of potentials for mutual cooperation.

Life Science

Globally Life Sciences are the most important sectors in the economic and technological viewpoint. In Life Sciences Austria has a long tradition and has well-established networks with pharmaceutical companies, research institutes and centers. The combination of global players with research facilities in Austria and young, dynamic start-ups in close cooperation with excellent universities creates an ideal environment for the development, growth and prosperity of the Austrian life science industry. Since 1980 Korea has strongly invested in research and development of the bioscience and biotechnology to be a leading nation in this area. With well-developed ICT structure Korea has a big potential for the future research and development of smart healthcare systems.
